Post It's On: Call of Duty Finals Coming to NVIDIA Saturday

Call us instigators, if you will.

Over the past three months we've pitted traditional college rivals against one another on Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's virtual battlefields. The resulting action has been fantastic.

The competition will reach a new level Saturday afternoon, with the finalists coming to NVIDIA's campus in Silicon Valley to settle things once and for all.

Cal, USC, and North Carolina State have already been named finalists. Oregon State and East Carolina State will compete for the tournament's wild card slot.

There's a lot more at stake than just prizes ' which include thousands of dollars worth of GeForce hardware. There's pride, too ' and not just for the contestants.

Our CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang went to Oregon State as an undergraduate and is a proud alum.

Tom Peterson, who has emceed the competitions with a combination of rapid-fire commentary on the on-screen action and brain-busting math puzzles for spectators, has two degrees from North Carolina State.

And everyone has a favorite.

GeForce community manager Kris Rey is a big fan of gamers from the Pacific Northwest. He's agreed to give his fellow NVIDIAN, Roger Evoy, lunch ' and send an email acknowledging his colleague's foresight to NVIDIA's marketing department ' if Oregon State doesn't win Saturday.

Anyone could take the tournament at this point.

USC, for example, is a tough, experienced team. No surprise, considering the schools' top-ranked game development program. It fought its way past UCLA last month, winning four out of five matches.

Cal intimidates, too. In November, it crushed traditional rival Stanford in a 4-0 sweep.

And North Carolina State ' like the school's basketball team ' is not to be underestimated. The Wolfpack clawed its way past the University of North Carolina last month in the most dramatic matchup to date, winning 4-3.

So don't miss the action Saturday. We'll be broadcasting it here live on twitch.tv. And you can track all the action at our Call of Duty: Black Ops II Rivalries page, here.
