I kept my I7-920 at 4.2gigs from day one,for over 4 years,but with a better CPU cooler.IF you waited this long and something new is coming out in a year ,I would just overclock the hell out of it and get all the power you can get from it ,because if you are running stock at 2.66gig then you should have quiet a bit of head room if your pC has the voltage and overclocking tools.It should do 3.8gig to 4.6gigs.
