Lightbulb Newbie: Fedora Core 1 - can't get network card to connect for internet

I have installed Fedora Core 1 as a secondary OS with XP being primary.
I can easily connect to the internet with the built in NVIDIA nForce MCP
Networking Adapter using Windows XP.
When I start up in Fedora, it shows a FAILED message for the eth0 (IIRC)
so I am guessing something is not set up correctly.

In a newsgroup I was told toand
Quote:
Be sure and install the kernel-source-2.4.20-XXX.i386.rpm for your current kernel. Also please read the installation instructions at nVidia's site
before starting and configuration/installation.
I downloaded the NVIDIA_nforce-1.0-0261.rh90up_2.4.20_9.athlon.rpm file
from the site as suggested and it seemed to install fine.
I tried uname -r to see what I have and it showed: 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl
I then restarted the system and it still shows "eth0 failed" on startup.
I then tried connecting to the net with Mozilla but can't get access.
Anyone care to say what I now need to do?
Much appreciation for any help as I am like a few days into Linux
