What does everyone here use to benchmark these drivers, the xscreensaver gears? If so I'm embaressed to say that I get PATHETIC performance. Maybe its not due to bad drivers, but maybe a bad set up or XF86Config, any lite that can be shed upon this would be appreciated.
My setup:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ @ 1222.890 MHz cache size 256kb 2408.44 bogomips
1024 mb DDR ram
80 Gig hardriver at 7200 RPM
I'm currently on kernel, 2.6.1 and using Nvidia's AGP drivers cause agppart sucks in the 2.6 series (I believe its broken).
I'm currently getting around 48 fps from Gears. This seems pathetic, any clues?
Dmesg output:
Dmesg
cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp
Status: Enabled
Driver: NVIDIA
AGP Rate: 4x
Fast Writes: Disabled
SBA: Disabled
XF86Config
XF86Config
