Oh, darn, I forgot:

If you're using a standard RH80 install (and certain others), I believe /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 is the default X Configuration file.

You can check this by looking in the /var/log/XFree86*.log files, that X creates (they contain other useful info as well).

On my RH80 test install, I rebuilt NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-3123.src.rpm and NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-3123.src.rpm with no noticable problems (without being root).
