Re: 32bit drivers on Asus K8V - Read this NVidia
Not happy Jan!
I have now tried multiple video cards, multiple mainboards (with different chipsets) along with multiple distributions using various kernels. Every single f@#$ing occasion I try to compile 32 bit drivers on a 32 bit distro it hard locks the machine. So yes, you can understand if I'm a little angry and dumbfound.
Heres the list of devices/distros I've tried in no particular order:
Leadtek 4200Ti 64Mb video card
Leadtek A360 FX 5700 128Mb video card
Asus K8V K8T800 mainboard
Gigabyte K8NNXP Nforce3 mainboard
Mandrake 9.2/10 (32 bit)
Debian sarge (32 bit)
Gentoo 2004.0 (32 bit)
Fedora Core2 test2 (32 bit)
Kernels ranging from 2.4.22 -> 2.6.3
I have tried the above things in various combinations and are still no closer to solving this. All I want to do is shout.
Since the machine hard locks its kinda difficult getting anything logwise so I wrote down an entire screenfull after doing a manual make install (so I could see what its doing). It hard locks any bit of hardware/software attempted at the SAME freakin point! Im starting to think that anyone claiming to have 32bit distro with 32 bit drivers on 64 bit machine working is pulling faeces from their rear.
The log is as follows (as written on paper):

I have tried various kernel options for fb, acpi, apci, memory without any success. I have another week with the hardware above, this is how long I will wait before saying 'f#@k linux, f#@k NVidia' & go back to using Windoze (because the win32 NVIDIA drivers work!)
I have been at this for over 3 weeks without getting anywhere whatsoever, I am bloody annoyed. NVidia claim they've tested the IA32 drivers on 64bit hardware - absolute crap as I think I've demonstrated. I really hope that someone can put me in my place and point out that Im a dumbass but I don't see that happening.
