Default SuSE 9.1 + VMware + Twinview: my experiences

It works nicely w/4496, as it did under 9.0. See attached XF86Config (althought it could stand some clean up)

HW details:
Dell P530, 2x2.8 Xeon, 4Gb RAM, 4x36Gb SCSI on Perc3 (MegaRaid), Quadro 900XGL, Samsung Syncmaster 240T (1920x1200) + Dell 2000FP (1600x1200).

SW details:
SuSE 9.1 Pro, nvidia 4496, VMware Workstation 4.5.1 (with vmware-any-to-any-68 patch)

Config details:
Samsung (1920x1200) on primary DVI connecter (lower), Dell (1600x1200) on 2nd DVI connecter
Configured as 1 3520x1200 display running @ 24bit

glxgears tops out at ~3500fps (vs. 8000 fps at 1920x1200@16 bit)

4496 was installed per directions found here, but mostly summarized in
http://minion.de/files/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4496.README

What works:
(1) VMware
(2) virtual terminals (in *both* displays *and* in framebuffer mode!)
(3) minimal display flashing on 1920x1200
(4) no 'noisy pixels' on 1920x1200 display

Brief notes on other configs
4496 w/1600x1200 on 1st connecter, 1920x1200 on 2nd
- no VMware
- too many noisy pixels on 1920x1200
- too much display flashing on 1920x1200 display
+ virtual terminals were visible even in framebuffer mode

5536 w/1920x1200 on 1st connecter, 1600x1200 on 2nd
+ VMware seemed to work
- too many noisy pixels on 1920x1200
- too much display flashing on 1920x1200 display
- virtual terminals were not visible even with framebuffer disables
