rpg's actually have gotten pretty stagnant too imho. all the games run like this: basically a group of about 5 characters who go around, fight, gain exp, gain weapons and spells, rinse, repeat, etc etc etc... the only difference i see in rpgs is the names of the characters and the graphics. but essentially the gameplay really hasnt changed since final fantasy 1.
