Re: So, Why Do People Buy Nvidia Cards?
I've used a whole lot of cards from both companies in the last two years, everything from a soft-modable 9500 to the 6800 Ultra. I use NVIDIA because of its more stable overall driver package. I plug in my card, I install drivers, crank up the visuals and play. One driver set works for all my games instead of with ATI where one driver set works for one game and is broken for another. I'm also leary of ATI for its continued ignorance of the OpenGL gamma bugs in its drivers. This has been an ongoing issue for more than 6 months.
Even if the X800 XT absolutely dominated the 6800 Ultra, for the driver stability I would probably stay with NVIDIA. The fact that its performance is pretty much on par with the Radeon is a wonderful bonus.
