Default Re: black line on right side

For those people that can sacrifice bleeding edge to get their black 12x1200 right-edge pixels back, here's a solution after fighting 3 days with the 6629 drivers.
This is for a Toshiba 5105-S701 capable of 1600x1200 24 bit running Mandrake 10.1 Official, kernel 2.6.8-12mdk, GeForce4 4400Go 64 Mb.

Go to the Nvidia linux driver archive and download and isntall version 5336.

Add the following to these xorg.conf sections:

Section "Monitor"

Modeline "1600x1200" 162.00 1600 1664 1856 2160 1200 1201 1204 1250 +hsync +vsync

Section "Device"

Option "IgnoreEDID" "True"
Option "MetaModes" "1600x1200"
Option "NvAgp" "0" # Without this, X locks on glx apps
Option "MetaModes" "1600x1200"

Section "Screen"
Subsection "Display"
Depth 24
# Virtual 1600 1200 #Comment "virtual" lines if you ahve them
Modes "1600x1200"

That's it. This should work for lower resolutions as well. You can generate a modeline like the one above with

> gtf 1600 1200 60

or google around.

It's annoying not having AGP support (cuts my glxgears from 2800 to 1800 fps), but it's more annoying not having 3D accel at all or having to cope with the black strip plus a maximum of 1400x1050 16 bit and messed up fonts.

I hope NVIDIA can think a little bit more about the Toshiba users for the next driver's release
If anybody has a solution for 6629 not posted in this forum (and I tried most of the pseudo-solutions found here), I'm all eyes.
