Hi @all

,
I am a complete newby in using Linux. Until now I was used to Windows XP.
I started using Linux since 17.12.2004, so I decided to install Suse Linux 9.2.
My FIRST PROBLEM:
I do not know how to install the NForce Driver" NFORCE-Linux-x86-1.0-0292-pkg1.run" !
I followed several instructions on several sites, but I am not able to run the installation correctly. Here is my system configuration:
a) Kernel version: 2.6.8.24-10 (after update with YAST)
b) Kernel source files: 2.6.8.24-10 (after update with YAST)
I logged as root and copied the NFORCE Driver to my desktop, opened a console and just drag and droped the Driver in the opened console, pressed enter and the installation started.
I wanted to install the Wlan and Sound Drivers, so I marked them, pressed OK. Then the system said that there is no matching kernel found and that it has to compile the kernel. I confirmed with OK, but the installation aborted with the message that the installation directory is wrong.
HELP ME PLEASE! I CANNOT USE LINUX. I EVEN DON'T KNOW TO CHANGE A DIRECTORY WHEN OPENED A CONSOLE. I AM A NEWBY, PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH ME.
SECOND PROBLEM:
HOW CAN I UPDATE FROM 2.6.8.24-10 to 2.6.10. I have downloaded the complete kernel pakage. Is there a easy way to update the kernel, because I am not a PC crack.
I'm waiting hopefully for some help.
Best greetings,
GREENHORN
