Default agp not intialising for > 4G memory

Hi

I am hoping someone can shed some light on my situtation.

My problem lies that when I put more ram into my system 4G-->8G, agp fails to intialise

cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Disabled

dmesg | grep NV
NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86_64 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-6111 Tue Jul 27

I need to use NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-611 as my software is compatible with the latest. Also running 2.4.21-20.ELsmp.

Is this a known issue? I have been googling for a while but can not seem to find any real clue so any help would be appriciated.

Cheers
