Default Another fella with problems installing a GeForce4 in Debian

I've used linux systems before, but never actually had to set one up. I'm trying to build nvidia's drivers.

Kernel is 2.2.20-idepci

I installed the headers, ran nvidia's makefile. It seems to compile fine, then fails with:

Quote:
0: nvidia: no NVIDIA graphics adapter found
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/video/nvidia.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
Hint: insmod errors can be cased by incorrect module paramteres, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/video/nvidia.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci/video/nvidia.o: insmod nvidia failed
make: *** [package-install] Error 255
can anybody tell me what's going wrong, and how I might fix it?
-Thanks
