Seems that Adobe Reader Speedup does exactly what those instructions tell you to manually do; from the ARSU ReadMe:
"Notice: Since v1.20, ARSU stores unused plugins in the Optional folder of Acrobat/Reader. This means that when a PDF is viewed and Acrobat/Reader requires a
plugin for full functionality, it'll be loaded automatically for that particular PDF only."
And it also does a few other things (at your option):
--Disable Wisptis.exe from loading everytime Reader is opened
--Disable the little advert in the main Reader window
--Disable the splash screen on Reader startup
--Disable automatic updating
--Clear list of recently opened files
Probably all stuff you could do yourself, but I'm a sucker for convenience! (lazy)
