I was pointed to a BIOS update @ HP, installed it.
Reinstalled Ubuntu on a whim, updated header files and whatnot.
Reinstalled 7676 driver.
Same issue.
Right after the crash, I booted up in 'recovery mode' (console as root) and generated this report, and also, here is my xorg file at time of crash.
