Default Re: 7667 issues; black screen/ X windows crashing

Ah... I got it running.

After randomly reading through the
HOWTO on the Ubuntu forums, someone was having similar problems and could boot up by disabling the 'NvAGP' option.

My xorg.conf is identical except for the device section, where I disabled all the other stuff a walkthrough had enabled and added that option:

Code:
Section "Device"
Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5200]"
    Driver "nvidia"
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    Option "NvAGP" "0"
    #Option "RenderAccel" "On"
    #Option "IgnoreDisplayDevices" "DFP, TV"
    #Option "NoRenderExtension" "On"
    #Option "Accel" "On"
    #Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "Off"
EndSection
Now it works wonderfully. I haven't been able to test it other than the 3d screensavers though (but they look fantastic compared to before... some are almost too fast ).

So, my next question is what is NvAGP? Do I or should I want it enabled?
