Well it seems you only get real widescreen resolution if you run a resolution of 1680x1050 or 1920x1200. No other lower widescreen resolutions exists for the 2407. So if you encounter a game that you need to run at lower your only choice is to run a 4:3 resolution and play it streched out. Not good IMO. I am sure most people here won't have a problem with that but I have no plans on upgrading my video card till I upgrade my system completely to 64bit (AM2 platform). So I am stuck with a 6800GT for a while.
Just tried Quake 4, Titan Quest, and FEAR. All of them look like crap unless you set it to run at 1680x1050 or 1920x1200. It seems Dell has the monitor telling the system via the plug and play interface to only allow those 2 resolution in widescreen 16:10. Take Quake4, it will only show you the resolutions supported by the monitor. If you try creating a custom resolution via the console commands Quake4 will give you an error and set you to 640x480 4:3 safe mode even if you give it a valid 16:10 resolution. To me this is a very bad design problem for gamers. They should have supported all the resolutions listed here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com...pic.php?t=1888
and then let the monitor just scale them up to 1920x1200.
BTW this is via the DVI interface. There may be more options if you use the VGA analog out.
