i'm trying to install suse 10.1 on the following machine:
mb: asus m2n32 sli deluxe with nForce 590
cpu: athlon 64x2 3800+
ram: 2 Gb ddr2 800
graph: 7900gt
and am running into problems.
first of all - the initial reboot after the first phase of installation brings me a black screen. when booting "failsafe" it says that it can't find /dev/sda6 where the root partition is. i've found a weird enough way around it: starting the installation process again, but when selecting the type of installation i go for "other=> boot installed system" and i arrive at the second phase of installation where it proceeds till i have a ready desktop but w/o sound or network.
when rebooting with a completely installed system - again: black screen or mounting error. so the only way i can reach my desktop is this "install-->boot installed system" trick.
secondly - i was thinking that installing network and making a system update could fix this weird behavior, but network doesn't give in easily as well (the log is below)
i didn't touch the video card yet - although it was recognized during the installation, and X seems fine, but 3D acceleration doesn't work.
i'd greatly appreciate any comments/suggestions on this situation!!!
