Default Claims to be right resolution, but isnt

Ive been posting all over town but cant elicit a response. Hopefully you guys will be able to help.

Im running Kubuntu (Dapper Drake) on an AMD64 with Quadro FX Go1400.

I cannot get my resolution right using the nvidia driver (nv works alright). I have had it briefly on several occasions but it disappears after a reboot or something.

I have built the nvidia-kernel module from source as I couldnt get anywhere with the binaries. Im sure my xorg.conf is, or at least has at some point been, fine (relevant sections below). When I log in the resolution is reported to be 1920x1200 (what Im trying to get) but clearly its not.

Ive been trying everything I can find on the web. My most recent success came from running "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" and rebooting. It booted with 1680x1050 but I was able to increase it in the display applet and got the full 1920x1200, but on reboot it was gone and I havent been able to reproduce this effect.

The relevant section of my xorg.conf as it currently stands is:
Code:
Section "Device"
Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NV41 [Quadro FX Go1400]"
        Driver "nvidia"
        BusID "PCI:2:0:0"
        Option "UseFBDev" "true"
# Option "UseEDID" "FALSE"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Generic Monitor"
