So it is an LCD TV with a VGA connection, connected to the MX4000 as if it is a CRT.
It still is a TV, but maybe not in nvdia driver terms where a TV is something connected via a "TV-OUT" chip.
But for the owner this is fortunate, because a TV-OUT chip makes simple things complicated. By "offering" unwanted things like scaling, overscanning, etc. Those are rarely what you want, on an LCD TV.
But this is off-topic, I wonder if the proposed modeline works or if it is rejected as well...
