I say that the certain spam threads should be identified and configured so that any postings don't count towards your post count. I don't know if this is possible in NVNews' design but the people at FileFront do it with their Spam thread.

The thread "the last one to post ... " springs to mind. If that thread could be configured I would be willing to accept the deduction in my post count.

This will maybe cause people to only post if they something proper to say.
