Hello,
I am new to linux I am trying to install NVIDIA driver on Fedora core 5 (on AMD 64) using the command sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run The user interface starts. It says there is no precompiled kernel interface. Then it tries to install one. But it could not find kernel source. I have installed the following rpm kernel-2.6.17-1.2157_FC5.src.rpm kernel-2.6.17-1.2187_FC5.src.rpm After that I tried many sets of instruction from net but nothing seems to work. I tried using sh --ectract-only NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run sh -ectract-only NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run sh -ectractonly NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run but it gives error "invalid options" I had installed binutils-2.17 I still get error "invalid options" Please let me know if any body has any solution. Regards, Ravi Shankar Gautam |

You need to install the kernel-devel package(s) matching your kernel(s); to extract the .run package, you'll need to use the --extract-only option (run it with --help for more information). Please also see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72490.
