Default Artifacts moving OpenGL windows / quake3 mirror artifacts with 9625

HI there,

I've a laptop with a Geforce-488Go (higher clocked 460Go) and after the installation of the 9625 BETA drivers I encountered the following two problems which did not appear with the 8xxx series drivers:

1.) When moving opengl-windows arround I see artifacts (small dots). I don't use a composition manager, nore do I have enabled the composite extension.

2.) In the first quake3 level theres a mirror right after loading the level.
This works on small resolutions like 640x480, however in 1024x768 it flickers and when moving it does show some kind of tearing.

3.) Glxgears performance is really low, with 87?? i got 7000fps, now I get 2000fps. I understand that glxgears is no benchmark, but maybe its good to know for driver developers.

I attached screenshots of both problems/bugs.

lg Clemens

PS: Please accalerated subpixel-glyh rendering and translucent/antialiased trapezoids, please.

correction: the window movement artifacts also happen with default x11 windows, but it seems it only happens when "konsole" is invalidated by the windows moved over it.
So it seems its a problem with "konsole" and the new driver, nothing windowmanager or opengl related.

The Quake mirror issue is a known bug.

Thanks,

The corruption is not a known issue. Specifically what kind of notebook are you using?

I am using a Microstar FID2040 (actually a re-labeld FIC M785) with a GF488Go/64mb inside, Pentium4-2.6ghz. OpenSuse-10.1 with KDE-3.5.1 and rgb antialiasing turned on.

As soon as I move another window on top of console I see artifacts in console such as black dots or some parts of letters. The font konsole is using is "Misc Fixed", and its not antialiased. I re-checked with 8xxx and it worked, seems like a regression.

Thanks, Clemens

No, I was not, as I don't have this notebook here. However, the Quake3 mirror corruption should be resolved in the next driver release.

Thanks,
Lonni
