Default nvidia 9625 minimize screen corruption

After installing this new driver set, I have been getting some corruption when I minimize a window or click the show desktop button. If I drag a window over the corrupted areas, they disappear (so basically if the screen were to be composed of layers, it seemst to occur right on the "background" layer but not affect windows on top of that).

I have included a screenshot: http://img181.imageshack.us/my.php?i...corruptiq1.jpg

System configuration is the following in case you need it:

compiz freedesktop + aiglx

BFG 7800gt, Gentoo 2006.1-2.6.18 kernel, gnome 2.16

I am not sure if this is an nvidia issue, a compiz issue, or an issue related to the particular set of packages installed on my computer. Any help would be appreciated.

I have included a bug report obtained right after starting compiz and minimizing a window.

does it work with --with-cow ? (moo)

if not, try adding to your device section:

Option "DisableGLXRootClipping" "True"

The script included to launch it has -with-cow included in it I believe. I will try your second recommendation and make an edit if it changes anything.

Do I need to remove the with-cow if I am adding that option to xorg.conf?

I think so, try both.

make sure you're not missing:

Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"

Thanks for the tips. I tried the method you suggested and it basically makes it so only the one window I am working in and the background image remain visible (no taskbar, no icons etc...) so I had to revert to the use-cow thing.

I also double checked the ARGB option and it was present in my xorg.conf.

So far it seems everything is working except for this minimized artifacts that can be seen in the screenshot and the fact that there seems to be no fading of any kind even though I have the fade plugin in the command as well as in gconf.

I think it may end up being a compiz issue.

This only reproduces with the Composite extension turned on?

Just to be sure, what are you doing with the Coolbits option? Does this problem persist without it?

Thanks,
Lonni

Hmm nothing with coolbits. I just enabled it because I was curious to compare it to the windows version but I havent overclocked anything yet. In fact I havent even really used the control panel other than to see whats in there and check the temperature.

I am assuming for compiz to work then composite must be enabled correct? This problem does not occur with my regular window manager (metacity), but only with compiz.

Would you like me to completely disable coolbits and attempt to reproduce the problem?

Thanks alot for the help

Correct, compiz requires the composite extension.

I don't see a need to disable coolbits if you're not using it for anything.

However, if this only reproduces with Compiz, it may not be a driver bug, but a compositor bug. I've not run into this problem here though.

Thanks,
Lonni
