Well, you might be right...

... but have you seen the hd trailers over @ gametrailers.com. They seem pretty realistic in motion. Considering the rumored G80 graphics (shown in the thread at Rumor mill) G80 Quads might be able to handle this detail.

Anyways, the HD trailers reinforce my belief

My friends and I are trying to develop real time architecture walk throughs in game engines, since they're so much more efficient over a modeling/rendering program like Max or Viz. If the sandbox is able to be modeled in Viz or another program and imported in, ohhh baby.

For more references of this, check here: http://digitalurban.blogspot.com/index.html

the discussions about whether this is realtime tech demo or in game are quite valid. they could be making comparisons using something that is not in game ,but increased about 10x times in graphics detail ,still realtime ,but rendered at 320x480. using quad sli /and latest Intel quad just to show their engine potential.

The real in games increenshots i have seen ,while good ,have lots of jaggies and the lighting is a lot more cheapier. still no doubts that Crytek have a lot of talent to what they have done with farcry and now with crysis.

Its hard to define "real time" with a static image. It could be rendering at 1-3fps for all we know...

Regardless though, if that is inengine, amazing graphics are on the horizon.

New interview out as well
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=20466

Heres what they had to say about development and release dates.

"Yes, everything is perfect. We’re on schedule and aiming for a Q1 2007 release. We’ve a few months left still to go, and we’re going to do everything that’s humanly possible to finish it on time."

And +1 to the "it's too small to tell" crowd. If you blew the real images there up to full screen even they'd look like crap, but the game still looks amazing so I have no difficulty believing that under the right circumstances it could be hard to distinguish from reality.
