Installing DirectX 9c on Windows XP x64 Question?

I want to know which directory I need to install DirectX 9c in.
I'm currently running Windows XP x64 Professional Edition. Where should this baby go?

put in in a temporary folder then run the installer inside. It's nothing but an unzip utility.

Do you need to make a thread about every little thing? Just try stuff out for yourself and see what happens, learn from mistakes...

Download this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en and execute is dxwebsetup, it downloads and install all the updates you need of DX9.0c, but like j0j081 said I´m afraid is included with Windows XP x64

Extract it anywhere. I think those are just the extracted files, which will be used to install the DirectX 9.0c. After the DirectX is installed, they dont matter at all. Just keep the original downloaded installer in a safe place, and follow the same procedure everytime.

It includes 9.0c, yes, but not the latest version of it. There have been like 10 or more updates to 9.0c since its first release.

usually if you actually need one of the updates though isn't it installed with the game?

Yeah it should, unless the game's installer is incompatible with x64.

If the game is already installed to another partition, you can install DirectX update separately, to avoid having to reinstall the game.
