I wanted to start my tests with the Beta 9626 because I needed the "TwinViewXineramaInfoOrder" function. My current System is a Dell Latitude D800 running a GeForce4 4200 Go.
At this moment the system works almost perfect with the 8774 version. To finalize the migration to Linux I need the capability that was implemented in 9625/9626 for selecting the primary screen for Linux. Twinview currently works with the primary (Laptop) device running 1900x1200 and the secondary 20" Dell 2000FP with 1680x1200. Again, no issues so far. After installing the 9626 the secondary (Dell 20") shows a pink Screen during logon and than a heavily artefacted failcoloured screen. I had no chance to stay with that version. I created two nvidia-bug-report.logs with a) the 9626 and b) the 8774 system. I have no idea what is wrong with the secondary display under 9626. Perhaps someone here can give me a hint. I bziped both reports with a tar also containing the output of the startx -- -logverbose 5 output. Thanks a lot for any hint Jochen |

Does this problem persist if you remove the HorizSync and VertRefresh options from xorg.conf?
If that doesn't help, please start X with the following command: startx -- -logverbose 6 and then generate and post a new bug report. Thanks, Lonni |

Lonni,
thanks for this hint, but it doesn't work. Attached the new bug.log (again with startx output as a tar file). I also took a picture from the screens (no screenshot - because that shows the colors correctly). I stored it on one of our servers: http://talk2.sagadc.com/images/NVidi...Color_Prob.jpg Thanks, Jochen |

I did some further tests this morning. Changed the Display, the DVI-cable and the Docking. No changes.
Also I installed the 8776 which works perfectly. Weird. Any further ideas? Thanks, Jochen |

Thats what I would call a screenshot!
Does the effect switch when you change the order of displays, so that the external monitor becomes monitor #1? And / or does something change when you use "LeftOf" or "RightOf" for the second screen? Alex |

Hi Alex,
well I tested your questions: As you might see in another "screenshot" neither the change of the position (TwinViewOrientation) nor the change of the primary (TwinViewXineramaInfoOrder) has changed the color issues. http://talk2.sagadc.com/images/NVidi...or_Prob_02.jpg Attached is also the new nvidia-bug-report. I am stuck with this issue... Any further ideas????? Thanks, Jochen |

Well, because I will never give up creating ideas, I tested 9626 this morning with a analog cable attached to my dell port replicator instead of the DVI cable.
Guess what, now it works The only issue that I have here now is that the display is not as clear as the DVI output (thats why DVI was supposed to work). Attached is the log from this attempt. Perhaps somebody can find the clue that makes the differences and let my Monitor get back to the clear output I had in the past. Thanks, Jochen |
