Just got eVGA geforce fx 5200 into linux box running Suse8.1, used old drivers and new drivers but sax does not list the FX line, is fx one of these :
0x0180 0x0181 0x0182 0x0188 0x018a 0x018b 0x01f0 0x0280 0x0281 0x0289 All the rest are listed by name from the tnt family to the Geforce4 and Quakdro4 line. ![]() UPDATE: sax2 does not list fx line nor is the above codes FX graphic cards, I've yet to find fx listed in sax2 using run file for 4349's or using the suse rpms from the ftp site, how do I go about configuring a geforce fx in suse 8.1. Thanks. Last edited by Steven301; 04-16-03 at 01:08 PM. |

SaX2 probably isn't aware of the card. If you use the 1.0-4349 installer, you'll have full support for the card, but SaX2 won't know anything about it.

What will I have to do then to get 3d support? I am running in text mode after running the run file for 4349's run file, everything looked good afterwards and logged in X but ut and quake3 would not start.

Did you edit your XF86Config file? Can you attach a copy of your /var/log/XFree86.0.log file?

I think that i've had to much caffine and I think it best to rest before I break something.
play with it later or put the geforce3 back in untill suse8.2. ![]() Well when you want something bad sometimes you have to bring in the hired guns, helping some buds build system so I snagged my freand that pulled me into linux to check out what I was missing editing the config files, everything works but I take that sax2 won't be any help untill I get 8.2, sax2 still shows nothing in it about Geforce fx. On the bright side I've noticed some increase in fps in quake3 and ut2003, Going from the original Geforce3 64megs to Geforce FX 128 helped alittle (quake3 demo4 G3=95 GFX=129) ut2003 is little harder to bench but in most cases running 1024x768x32 gets me playable framerates in most maps but the faces3 with big out doors running 16 bots indoors 50s to 60s outdoors around 30s to 50s. Not bad for a entry level card for around 85 bucks. Last edited by Steven301; 04-17-03 at 08:06 AM. |
