I'm using the debian experimental packages (nvidia-kernel-source [incl. NOSMBUS patch] and nvidia-glx) with kernel 2.6.18 (selfmade) without success.
The pc can still be accessed via ssh, but on all vt's the monitor is blank but don't go offline (like dpms suspend). i've tried different settings inside xorg.conf (layout Single) up to completly clean Device Section (only BusID and Driver name) and in another thread mentioned resolution of 1024x768_75_0: all without success. My monitor was a Nokia 446xpro CRT. The end of the Xorg.0.log looks scary to mee, cause no resolution probe or other things are shown there. Looks like the X-process stops after ~ 50% of his initialization and waits for something? Any further hints? |

perhaps the card detection was wrong, cause /proc/... was different to old driver version.

The VBIOS is only printed while the driver is in use in X.
The behavior in your bug report looks very similar to what happens when using the driver without the NOSMBUS patch. How confident are you that the NOSMBUS driver patch was applied? Have you verified that you're using the latest BIOS for the motherboard? Does this problem persist with an official Debian kernel? Thanks, Lonni |

![]() But there is no eeprom module loaded, or exists more than the eeprom module which conflicts with the nvidia driver (with smbus)? nvidia-kernel (1.0.9625-2) experimental; urgency=low * Include NOSMBUS patch. (closes: #390767) Quote:

I don't know how you've configured your kernel. However I'd suggest comparing your configuration to Debian's, and regressing through each change until you isolate the change that triggers the problem.
Thanks, Lonni |
