Dear Listers,
I'm having problems with video card memory in my new custom rig machine. The nvidia driver/kernel is only able to pick up 512MB (out of 1GB) of my graphics card. I've tried booting with noapic, acpi, routeirq options at boottime and nothing seems work. Would appreciate if anyone can give me valid pointers to further investigae this problem. Thanks. The mobo's BIOS is current. Below are some of the relevant info and my X config and log files are attached. Machine Details: dual Xeon, 8GB RAM, SuperMicro X7DAE, Geforce FX4550 X2 1GB card OS: Ubuntu 6.06 running 2.6.15-27-amd64-generic SMP preempt kernel nvidia driver:1.8776 (64-bit) <<<<lspci -v>>>> ----------------- 0000:0a:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 029f (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Subsystem: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 0357 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 177 Memory at a2000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Memory at b0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Memory at a1000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] I/O ports at 4000 [size=128] Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2 Capabilities: [68] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable- Capabilities: [78] #10 [0001] 0000:0b:00.0 3D controller: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 029f (rev a1) Subsystem: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 0357 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 58 Memory at a4000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Memory at c0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Memory at a3000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] I/O ports at 5000 [size=128] Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2 Capabilities: [68] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable- Capabilities: [78] #10 [0001] <<<<lshw -display >>>> *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: nVidia Corporation vendor: nVidia Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0a:00.0 version: a1 size: 256MB width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: vga bus_master cap_list configuration: driver=nvidia resources: iomemory:a2000000-a2ffffff iomemory:b0000000-bfffffff iomemory:a1000000-a1ffffff ioport:4000-407f irq:177 *-display description: 3D controller product: nVidia Corporation vendor: nVidia Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0b:00.0 version: a1 size: 256MB width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: bus_master cap_list configuration: driver=nvidia resources: iomemory:a4000000-a4ffffff iomemory:c0000000-cfffffff iomemory:a3000000-a3ffffff ioport:5000-507f irq:58 |

In your X log, I see the following for one of the two GPUs:
(--) NVIDIA(0): VideoRAM: 524288 kBytes |

Netlama, That's true. But isn't FX4500 X2 a 1GB PCIe card (512mb per gpu)? In other words, why am I not able to get the full potential of my graphics card? What am i missing or misinterpreting?

As I stated earlier, your X log shows that you are getting 512MB per GPU. If you have additional questions or problems with the 1.0-9629 driver, please generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log.
