I've recently felt the need to play never winter nights and figured i'd try to get the nvidia drivers working.
I'm running gentoo, stable packages. When I start x (GDM on login), I get the following characters on the screen: ^[[D^[[C I can't switch terminals or log in. I can however ssh in. nvidia-bug-report.sh wasn't working, and I realized the cause was a hang on both of these commands: #append_glob "/proc/driver/nvidia/cards/* #append_glob "/proc/driver/nvidia/agp/*" Trying to `cat` these files results in a hung process, which even kill -9 won't get rid of: /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0 /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status (The rest of the stuff in /agp/status is fine, i've inserted /agp/card and /agp/host_bridge/ into the nvidia-bug-report.log at the appropriate points) I can't think of anything else useful that isn't in the bug report. |

Looks like you're getting a kernel Oops. Does this problem persist with the 1.0-9629 or 1.0-9742 drivers?

I would like apologize for wasting your time.
It works perfectly with the 9629 version. Next time, I promise to update before bothering others. I should have known better. |
