Thanks, guys.
96.29 fixes google Earth on the 6200 64 MB turbocache for me. As opposed to the 9x.xx beta versions it also runs my Xorg.conf fine (the betas were hanging unless I went back to a plain Xorg.conf). Also like the new stuff in nvidia-settings. Didn't try the i2c stuff yet.

I too agree on a great upgrade on the Linux Nvidia driver!
twin view is so harmless to install now. It's built straight into the menu which is super easy to configure! I love the new graphical re-design as well! Great job guys! Keep up the great work!

Indeed, the 9629 seem to fix the 'black screen variant' I reported in the forums. I seems to also fix some seemingly related vt switching bug and allows me to suspend to ram with 100% success (well, not quite, but the problem seems no more nvidia related, at least).
only suspend to disk fails now, either swsusp or suspend2: tried both, and both fail the same way. I'll certainly report about it later. oh, and the DFP mode switching X crash bug also happens to me, but for now, I'll just run games windowed or at native resolution. at last my laptop is seriously useable! thanks a lot nVidia linux team. |
