Default rendering opengl when X server is not active

Hello,

I'm seeing the following problem:

- I use a tool which renders opengl, intercepts all opengl calls,
let them render in the hardware, and then send it over a jpeg
compression over the network.

This tool is called virtualGL:

http://www.virtualgl.org/

It is used to offer descent 3d performance to thin client, for example
you can setup "renderfarms" in the serverroom and only have a small
thinclient at you workplace.

Problem:

- When the X11 server is active (startet on :0 and console is console 7)
erverything works fine
- When I switch to console 1 the X server and the GL application still
runs (produces cpu load), but it seems to me that the graphics card
stops processing opengl rendering (or does now send the output to X)

Is this true?

regards,

Martin

Default Re: rendering opengl when X server is not active

Only for your information:

The problem is that Linux does not have an universal EGL interface,
like the one on Solaris.

"DRC", the virtualgl developer said that other projects like XGL
would like to have EGL on Linux as well.

So for now: no solution.
