Default TV out color splotches in X but can reproduce black and white

This is probably an odd problem but I have an onboard Nvidia 6150 running an lcd monitor through DVI and attempting to run a Tv over composite cables. This particular board has component, composite and svideo outs. I only get mostly red color lines all over my screen.
I can go to a prompt not running X and be able to see everything fine but upon booting all i get is these colors. It seems to be recieveing the signal because when I do things like change from browser to desktop the color scheme changes and is consistant. Any insight would be appreciated.
