Default Dual-head, twinview Performace is Pitiful, 8774-97xx

Is there a reason that dual-head performance is horrible? I am running scientific calculations and benchmarks via a 6600le, and with dual-head enabled, my performance decreases and becomes somewhat erratic.

My single-screen performance is about 1000ms. With dual-head I get the following...

2000ms ....

When I log out this trend starts up again at 1000, 4000, then 2000 from there on. This makes me wonder, can I use 0 monitors for better performance? Can I run opengl commands without the x-server running? Thanks!

If you aren't using twinview for your dual display than your glx performance will suffer. Make sure your dual display is using twinview. The other option is two seperate X servers and xinerama and opengl performance is pitiful.

I doubt anyone can explain what you're reporting unless you provide details how to reproduce the problem, along with an nvidia-bug-report.log.
