Go here and get the latest SDL version..

http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php

(You should be able to check what version your running by doing a "rpm -qa | grep SDL" which will list the version you currently are running.. ) Once you have done that, (Again in a terminal window), goto your /usr/local/games/ut2004/System directory, after you rename the old one to libSDL-1.x.so.0.bak (Which ever version it is), do a "ln -s /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0 libSDL-1.2.so.0" And see how that goes.. (How this is all done in Gentoo I have no idea, I've only run RH based distros, athough the principle should be the same)

I already got the latest version :
Quote:
Latest version installed: 1.2.11
So any other suggestion ? Or do i have to try the download from libsdl site ?

I'm having on the demo map (i forgot name) at some points like 100fps , but at other points like 20-30 fps (or less).

So the game isn't running like it runs under windows (no frame drops lower then 80).

The problem is that UT2004 might use it's own libSDL.
I suggest :

Code:
1. cd /home/evert/ut2004/System/

2. mv libSDL-1.2.so.0 oldlibSDL-1.2.so.0

3. ln -s /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0 .

4. Try ut2004
if it still has low frames sent the output of the following commands :
Code:
ldd /usr/bin/glxgears | grep libGL.so.1
ls -l /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
ls -l /home/evert/ut2004/System/libGL.so.1

I did what you said , i only replaced the /home/evert/UT2004 by /opt/UT2004.

It ran quite good , general my frame rate was ok , but on some places / times (like every 2 seconds) it drops to 20-30. So not really playable for UT.

Every command :

Quote:
evert@gentoolinux ~ $ ldd /usr/bin/glxgears | grep libGL.so.1
libGL.so.1 => //usr//lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGL.so.1 (0xb7e62000)
Quote:
evert@gentoolinux ~ $ ls -l /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
ls: cannot access /usr/lib/libGL.so.1: No such file or directory
Quote:
evert@gentoolinux ~ $ ls -l /opt/ut2004/System/libGL.so.1
ls: cannot access /opt/ut2004/System/libGL.so.1: No such file or directory
