Default 8762 to 9629; Broke OpenGL Performer app

Hello All,

My OpenGL Performer application worked just fine on a RedHat (32-bit) and a SUSE (EMT64) disto using the 8762 drivers, respectively. I upgraded to the 9629 driver (to use the enhanced EDID capabilities) and now my pf app will hang. If I roll the driver back to the 8762 driver, it works correctly just as before. I successfully recompiled against the 9629 driver but it still hangs.

After some initial triage, my app is hanging somewhere when opening a window or starting a Performer loader.

Any thoughts are appreciated on this one. TIA.

This bug is fixed in 1.0-9631.

Thanks,

Hi Lonni,

Thanks for your reply. I loaded the new driver and my app still hangs. I don't think this is the pfVideoRate issue I noticed in another post. Any thoughts on what the issue may entail would be helpful.

You may need to set the __GL_ALWAYS_HANDLE_FORK environment variable to a non-zero value. Please see the driver README for more details.

If that doesn't help, you'll need to generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log and provide details on how to reproduce the problem.

Thanks,
Lonni

I checked the README and tried the __GL_ALWAYS_HANDLE_FORK environment variable. No luck. The hang occurs the same way. I reverted back to the 8774, not as far back as 8762, and the app worked again. No driver past 8774 was successful in enabling the app to run. Not exactly sure where the problem is at this point. Something changed...

This problem is present in 1.0-8776 as well? Have you tested 1.0-9742?

You'll need to generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log and provide details how to reproduce the problem.

Thanks,
Lonni

Hi-

My apologies, Lonni! 8776 works.

Better yet, I tested the following:

Work: 8762, 8774, 8776
Don't work: 9631, 9626, 9629, 9742

I don't rule out the possibility of Performer having a bug that is exacerbated by tighter/different nv driver code. I'm not using the latest Performer. I'm using 3.1.

For now, I'll try to make due with the 8774 or 8776 driver. I need to figure out the sticking point in my app before I raise a bug report.
