Unhappy Failing NVIDIA on FX 5200 dualhead card, kernel driver errors ...

Hi guys
already for some time I am experiencing this issue. Since I really want to use my second monitor I was forced to write this
Looks like I am not alone, since in other (Linux) forums have the same(similar) issues.
To be honest I am using Solaris express, so definitely not S10, but it should work too ...
it's S11 build 31 and after trying to run the default xorg.conf I get the NVIDIA splash, X starts, but then ... X is frozen (system works, so login through ssh works and you can restart X/troubleshoot)

I'd be curious whether this reproduces with Solaris 10.

Additionally, please provide the following information:
0) A bug report
1) The type of motherboard & BIOS version you're using

I can try it out with Solaris 10, however note, that I am experiencing this already since b22 with older versions of drivers.

The machine is Fujitsu Siemens Celsius v810
So the mainboard is:
Mainboard D1692
AMD 8111, AMD 8131, AMD 8151
Bios is from March 2005 R1.07.1692
---> upgraded to R1.10.1692

Graphic card is:
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, 64 MB, AGP 8x, 2 x SL DVI-D

It looks like a newer BIOS was released for the V810 on July 21, 2005. Please try updating and see if that makes any difference.

Hmm, did help a little bit
it did freeze like 2 min. later than before this BIOS upgrade & I even got the gdm started up, but then dead again
The logs are slightly different too, there are mainly Head, not so many Channel warn msgs.

the Xorg log only had one relevant WW :

so in fact, we are where we've been ... can you please clarify what is meant under Xid 16 and Xid 8 ??
and the Head or Channel keywords?
(if it's not a public secret )

The WAIT messages normally imply that the driver is waiting for something to complete (possibly a resource to become available).

I'm afraid that I don't have a Fujitsu Siemens Celsius v810 system here to try to reproduce this problem.

If you've got some IRQ sharing, that could potentially be a/the problem.

Hmm, I am still thinking however, that this issue is because of the card.
I'll try to troubleshoot the IRQs ...

Just curious ...
Have you tested the drivers with dualhead Geforce FX5200, AGP 8x , 2x SL DVI outputs, 64MB ?

I've not explicitly tested a GeForce FX5200 in Solaris, as only Quadro cards are officially supported in Solaris. I have successfully setup TwinView and two X screens in Solaris with several different AGP Quadro cards.

I tried another thing, setting up nvagp to 0 ... got a little bit further ... gdm seems to be working ... slooow, but working

I know that this post was published long time ago, but I know the solution on this problem:

You should paste into your /etc/xorg.conf file this line: Option "NvAgp" "1"
for example:
