Default shell icon cache

can someone tell me how i get to the shell icon cache? i need to delete it becuase i have some icons on desktop that are corrupted/not displaying correct icons with them. im using windowsxp home edition.

Download TweakUI and go to "Repair", then check "Rebuild Icons" and your problem should be solved.

go to the Windows directory. the file you're looking for is "ShellconCache"

browse you computer's C: drive(or whatever drive has your operating system installed on, usually it's C: unless you have more than one drive and installed it on a different one) and then go to the Windows folder

folder = directory

i did exactly as you said C:drive then to windows folder...in the windows folder there is no shelliconcache or shellcon or shellconcache anywhere. i even enabled "display hidden files and folders"(from view options) and still no luck.

hmm, sorry, i'm not sure if the ShellconCache file exists in winXP, my mistake
