Default TwinView Device order problem

Hi,

i want to set up a twinview desktop with my 7600GS Dual-DVI, a Dell2007WFP (DFP) and a Philips 107E (CRT).

The DFP is directly connected to the cards first dvi plug (its labeled "1" on the backpanel) and the CRT to the second via a dvi-vga adaptor.

Twinview works well, besides i didnt manage to get the driver accept the
DFP as the primary display, and the fact that x crashes, when i switch to a metamode refering the CRT to NULL.

as i played around with variations of the configuration variables according to example setups i found around the web i managed to detect the displays
correctly as DFP-0 and CRT-1

then xorg says...

Code:
(II) Setting vga for screen 0.
(II) NVIDIA(0): Creating default Display subsection in Screen section
	"Screen 0" for depth/fbbpp 24/32
(**) NVIDIA(0): Depth 24, (--) framebuffer bpp 32

(==) NVIDIA(0): Default visual is TrueColor
(==) NVIDIA(0): Using gamma correction (1.0, 1.0, 1.0)
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "NoLogo" "true"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "HWcursor" "true"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "RenderAccel" "true"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "TwinView"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "MetaModes" "DFP-0: 1680x1050, CRT-1: 1152x864"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "TwinViewXineramaInfoOrder" "DFP"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "HorizSync" "DFP-0: 30.5-81.0; CRT-1: 50-96"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "VertRefresh" "DFP-0: 60.0; CRT-1: 85.0"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "DPI" "86 x 86"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Enabling RENDER acceleration
(**) NVIDIA(0): TwinView enabled
(II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU GeForce 7600 GS at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0)
(--) NVIDIA(0): Memory: 262144 kBytes
(--) NVIDIA(0): VideoBIOS: 05.73.22.16.02
(II) NVIDIA(0): Detected PCI Express Link width: 16X

(--) NVIDIA(0): Connected display device(s) on GeForce 7600 GS at PCI:1:0:0:

(--) NVIDIA(0): DELL 2007WFP (DFP-0)
(--) NVIDIA(0): PHILIPS 107E (CRT-1): 400.0 MHz maximum pixel clock
(--) NVIDIA(0): DELL 2007WFP (DFP-0): 330.0 MHz maximum pixel clock
(--) NVIDIA(0): DELL 2007WFP (DFP-0): Internal Dual Link TMDS
(II) NVIDIA(0): Display Devices found referenced in MetaMode: CRT-1, DFP-0
(II) NVIDIA(0): Assigned Display Devices: CRT-1, DFP-0
(II) NVIDIA(0): Validated modes:
(II) NVIDIA(0): "DFP-0:1680x1050,CRT-1:1152x864"
(II) NVIDIA(0): Virtual screen size determined to be 1680 x 1050
(**) NVIDIA(0): DPI set to (86, 86); computed from "DPI" X config option
...which of course creates a x-screen on DFP-0
and makes CRT-1 go standby/off
  • main: how do i get the driver to calculate the "virtual screen size" correctly?
  • how would be the correct usage of the config options (eg. TwinViewXineramaInfoOrder, ConnectedMonitor....)?
  • what kind of Monitor and Screen sections are required?
  • is it relevant, what display is connected to which DVI-connector?

thanks in advance

Dude, post a bug report Run nvidia-bug-report. Most notably, I am missing your xorg.conf to see where you made the error.

Oh,

i dont belive this to be a bug since the problem seems to be solved according to the forum thread.
I intended this post to "provoke" some sample configuration which should make it work or have somebody answer the questions so i can fix it myself.
