Default Problems installing NVIDIA graphics driver 1.0.9746 on fedora core 5

I am facing problems installing the latest NVIDIA driver 1.0.9746 on my fedora core 5 machine. It has kernel version 2.6.18-1.2257.

I have followed all the steps mentioned in the post http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72490

On running the script with the command line option "--kernel-source-path <kernel_source_path>", it builds the kernel. But just after that, gives the following error:
ERROR: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvidia.ko'. This happens most
frequently when this kernel module was built against the wrong or
improperly configured kernel sources, with a version of gcc that differs
from the one used to build the target kernel, or if a driver such as
rivafb/nvidiafb is present and prevents the NVIDIA kernel module from
obtaining ownership of the NVIDIA graphics device(s).

I am attaching the nvidia-installer.log file. nvidia-installer.log
