Default Installer: veeeeery long wait period

After i have invoked

sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86... .run (independent of version / release used)

and the installer started to install I always have to wait a longer period of time until the install process proceeds.

While this time, I think, the installer tries to connect to the internet. Is that right?

If my assumption is correct: How to suppress that behavior?
It is waste of time. Because I have a couple machines with no internet access at all and machines with proxy driven internet access.

Is there any hidden or undescribed option?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

OS: SuSE Linux 10.1

There is an option, but it's not hidden or undescribed. From the nvidia-installer man page (also available through the --advanced-options option if you don't have the man page):
       -N, --no-network
This option instructs the installer to not attempt to connect to the NVIDIA ftp site
(for updated precompiled kernel interfaces, for example).
