ERROR: You appear to be running an X server; please exit X before installing.
For further details, please see the section INSTALLING THE NVIDIA DRIVER in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com. |

It's not this. It's the other. The first I forgot to exit X, the second time I did exit. |

I don't understand which 'other' you're referring to as the only error is the one I quoted.

ERROR: Installation has failed. Please see the file
'/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find suggestions on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com. That was the message I got when I tried to install. |

Right, and in your installer log the error was what I quoted earlier. If that's not the case, then please attach the installer log for review.
Did you stop X? thanks, Lonni |

Hi again
The log message it IS ERROR: You appear to be running an X server; please exit X before installing. For further details, please see the section INSTALLING THE NVIDIA DRIVER in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com. Both in the installation and in the log! Strange? YES I made another try and this time the driver installed, BUT when I star the computer on linux, the big NVidia logo appears, then there are images "Loading Fedora blah blah blah" Than Nvidia Logo appears again and the screen gets like this: http://www.inf.ufsc.br/~csd/DSC00361.JPG http://www.inf.ufsc.br/~csd/DSC00360.JPG ps. sorry about the size I don't have any image editor right here, now. After trying MANY times I manage to start with no problems and changed the initab to load in init 3. Than I can make init 5 and it works great. But when I logoff or shutdown the computer that "thing" I showed in the photos happens. I really hope my explanation helps. |

I'm not sure that I understand the problem you're reporting, but it sounds like a new/different problem than what you originally reported. You should probably start a new thread, with details of how to reproduce the problem and an nvidia-bug-report.log.
thanks, Lonni |
