Unhappy Monitor standby problem

Sometimes, as soon as gdm (Gnome Display Manager) starts monitor goes into standby mode.
I can't switch to virtual console, so i hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and wait until computer restarts.
When i login from remote machine i can see that the process 'Xorg' takes 100% of CPU time, and i must do
Code:
# killall -s KILL Xorg
and restart gdm to get monitor power on again.
I tried to add this to my xorg.conf (section monitor):
Code:
Option "DPMS" "No"
but this did not help.

This looks like a kernel or BIOS problem.

I have a few questions:
0) Are you reporting that this problem is sporadic, and doesn't reliably reproduce?
1) Have you verified that you're using the latest motherboard BIOS?

Thanks,
Lonni

1) I do not get the problem __each__ time X starts, but approximately 1/2 times it starts...
2) No i didn't You think i should update? Will that help?
Code:
$ cat /proc/cmdline
root=/dev/hda6 ro noapic
Without "noapic" option i get error (or rather warning) from driver saying that irq has a triggered interrupt. or something alike. Maybe i should try the "irqpoll" option? What does it change?

I have no means of determining whether updating the BIOS will help, however many others are using the same motherboard and you're the only one reporting this problem.

Ok, i will try to play with irq's, and if it will not help i'll update Bios.
Thanks for replying,
