Default FX 5500 and AIGLX not working well together

I'm using the 1.0.9746 driver with AIGLX on Kubuntu Edgy 6.10.
I've had this problem with other distros and I haven't had problems
with XGL so I'm sure it's the video card and it's configuration.
The animations and effects are very choppy even though I'm
getting a refresh rate of 75hz. I don't have this problem with XGL,
only AIGLX which is stumping me. Should i file a bug report or
does anyone have any solutions? Thanks!

What's the composite manger that you're using? Compiz, or Beryl?
If you're using either beryl or compiz:
Try disabling Sync to VBlank in your manager's configuration.
If it's beryl, then disable things like: "Slowness fix", and "Detect Refresh Rate".
Set the refresh/redraw rate manually to the value equal to your monitor's refresh rate.

Hope this helps :-)

Thanks! Didn't think it was that simple of a fix! I had the refresh rate already manually set, but disabling the vsync option fixed it. Thanks again!
