I tried installing the nvidia drivers so I could get 3d support on suse 10.2 x86_64, but after finishing the install and rebooting, all I got was a blank screen when starting x.

Im assuming you want the log file and xorg.conf...
one note about the monitor, it only supports a refresh rate of 61 hrtz, and that setting was manualy set. |

The problem is that the EDID in your display contradicts itself:
(--) NVIDIA(0): Valid VRefresh Range : 0 Hz - 60 Hz (--) NVIDIA(0): EDID maximum pixel clock : 170.0 MHz (--) NVIDIA(0): (--) NVIDIA(0): Detailed Timings: (--) NVIDIA(0): 1920 x 1200 @ 62 Hz (--) NVIDIA(0): Pixel Clock : 166.00 MHz (--) NVIDIA(0): HRes, HSyncStart : 1920, 1968 (--) NVIDIA(0): HSyncEnd, HTotal : 2080, 2208 (--) NVIDIA(0): VRes, VSyncStart : 1200, 1201 (--) NVIDIA(0): VSyncEnd, VTotal : 1205, 1217 (--) NVIDIA(0): H/V Polarity : -/- It restricts the VRefresh range to 60Hz, yet its only native mode requires 62Hz. You can attempt to work around this with the following option: Option "UseEDIDFreqs" "FALSE" Thanks, Lonni |

No, the problem is that you edited your xorg.conf under Windows, and its now full of extraneous carriage return characters.
