Default Error Downloading 1.0-9746 for Linux x86/x86-64

When I try and download the above file from the main download page, it simply opens in a browser window - rather than getting the 'Save As' dialogue.

Looking at the other downloads, they seem to be OK (ask to verify the EULA, and then open the 'Save As' window.

Is this a problem with the site or my browser setting (Firefox 2.0)

Just tried again, from IE6 this time. Still get the file opening in a browser window. Surely this is NOT the expected result?

This isn't a problem at all. You just don't know how to use your browser. If you right-click on the link, a menu will appear. Press the button that says "Save Link As".

Oops...but would've been nice to be consistent across the page - some links automatically bring up the Save As....?
Never mind...done now - thanks.

Mind you, trawling through the posts here, getting this working with SuSE10.2 looks a challenge

Getting the Nvidia drivers installed in Suse 10.2 is extremely easy, just follow the Yast instructions at http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-...r-HOWTO.html#2

Then it pays to run Sax to rebuild your config.

However : The 1.0.9631 drivers are the only ones available at ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/10.2/x86_64
If someone from Nvidia sees this, can the latest drivers be put up please?

Regards
Colin

SuSE/Novell builds & provides the RPMs. NVIDIA only hosts them. You'd need to make this request to SuSE/Novell.

This is what I tried first...and when I rebooted, the nvidia splash screen came up, and the machine completely hung. (no response from ctrl+alt+bkspce, caps lock did not cause the light to change, nor did scroll lock )

I ended up having to reboot with the SuSE10.2 DVD, and 'repair system' to get back in ...(and removed the nvidia packages from YaST2)

Then I read somewhere that said that X Server needed to be stopped, and it needed to be run from a CLI...hence the need to try and 'download' the drivers manually, and I was going to try again later this week...

Guess what...tried again, and got complete system lockout...again

Had to repair from the install DVD again.

1 last try, following the CLI route this time.

I have tried again, this time coming out of Xserver session, and using the CLI.

First time I got an error message that my chipset is not supported by the 9746 driver, I needed the 96xx version. So I downloaded the 9631 version...this seemed to compile, so I ran

sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia

it tried to start the sax session, but graphics were unusable. Had to restart. Got to the NVIDIA spash screen again, and PC hung completely. I am writing this from a Live CD...where do I find the error logs on this system...???

As this problem seems unrelated to the original, I'd suggest reading here:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=58498

and then starting a new thread.

Thanks,
Lonni
