Arrow Summary of GeForce 8800 Game Issues

issues in vista with 100.54 driver + 8800

Scarface = entire game is corrupt (textures/models missing)
Gothic III = entire game is corrupt, driver crashed and recovery, leaves black screen
NFS Most Wanted = game crash, driver recovery in menu
R6 Las Vegas = after few minutes of play, weird horizontal lines and boxes show up flashing and moving on the screen. Same problems happens in Windows Desktop after quiting the game
Deus Ex IW = game freeze, with error screen
FEAR = runs extremely slow, about 15fps
Simcity 4 = unplayable, my guess is that the problem is caused by directx7 emulation
Neverwinter Nights = game also runs very slow
Neverwinter Nights 2 = game runs over 50% slower then on XP
Black and White 2 = after few minutes everything starts to be blurry
Hitman Bloodlines = no AA, micro stutter very often, even at high FPS
Sid Meier Railrods = very low FPS (10-19 FPS on 8800GTX)
Sid Meier Pirates! = very low FPS

No Issues runs great
UT 2004 (just the micro stutter)
GT Legends
GTR2
Test Drive Unlimited (slightly slower)
Company of Heroes
Tomb Raider Legends (just slower)
Guild Wars
NFS Carbon (works after hotfix that released yesterday, no windows 98 compability required, still allot slower then XP)
Call of Juarez - working now, same hotfix from MS fixed the keyboard and mouse problem, first game that actually plays just like on XP, or even faster
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - game works great after Reloaded "patch"

will report back with more later

Don't think these two issues have to do with display drivers... sound liek those are game issues with the OS.

You can play NFSCarbon: you have to set compatibility mode to Windows 98, it will play - if it still does not, you will have to RENAME the folder "movies" to somethign else and it will work.

For splinter cell, over at the nvidia.com forums, there's a thread about it. You can play double agent without setting compatibility mode to XPSP2, but if it does not work, you may have to try setting compatiblility mode. I have heard over there the corruptions are gone with 100.54 w/8800 cards

thanks i will try that for carbon, how slow is it in compability mode?

plus in double agent i'm forcing HDR+AA and works fine untill you get to the prison, where the corruptions start, screen goes black

With Carbon, i ran it with 100.30, but I have not tried 100.54. I want to wait for 100.56 or whatever comes tomorrow. The great news is that DA will work flawlessly (minus the stupid -ll startup shortcut) w/8800 & 100.54.

In CARBON, I was getting low 20's and vsync was LOCKED when Iused 100.30 drivers. I couldn't understand why - annoying - but if you remove either the movies in the install directory's directory named: "movies" or rename that directory, the game should load up - ensure compatibility is set to win98 though.

Give it shot and see if it runs smoother than 100.30 - I hope it does - the game is pretyt good looking - DA is what I want to run and it sounds like it does!

Yes, in DA, the corruptions are the sh_itty when you hit hte prison level. I had to turn AA off, KEEP HDR on @1280x1024. W/100.30, DA was fuked up bad - distorted characters just like in Halo PC...I was so pissed...so I reverted back to XP 97.92 and man, it's so niiiice (minus AA)

Maybe just a stupid question but why are some geeks so hurry to run Vista for gaming now ??

Personnally, my major concern is performance (with my E6600@3.2 + 8800gtx) and for sure, i'll stay on XP for the 3 following months

The only thing which could force me to buy & install Vista is the first GOOD Directx10 title (in this cas, no choice)

Sorry for the off-topic but i was not understanding why so much people were excited by Vista (especially if you spend most of ur time on pc games)

They are supposed to be 100.54. I have a feeling Nvidia will release this set with WHQL -

For me I have the following problems with 100.54 + 8800GTX

Oblivion: Weird blocky images that kind look like space invaders in green and yellow colors appear on the textures and in the sky. They become especially evident if you pause the game.

NWN2: Same block images from Oblivion appear on the screen at all times. Always green and always in the same place.

Company of Heroes: Same block images as before only they are attached to the game textures now. On the soldier uniforms, faces and the ground. I even spotted some underwater and the water light defraction calculations were being ran on it. This appears to be some kind of texture corruption.

I don't notice this problem when running 3DMark06 or in Lego Star Wars. Also, the Aero desktop runs and looks fine.

I can't find anyone else having this problem though. Might be just me.

If I have to return this card because it's a hardware problem, I'll never buy NV again.
