96.85 Driver fails with GeForce4 MX 4000 and Windows Vista

Hello,

I have recently installed Windows Vista and my video card (GeForce4 MX 4000) is not recognized by the latest nvidia driver installer (96.85_forceware_winvista_x86_international_whql) when it checks for known hardware devices. I believe something is broken with the hardware detection in the setup program for my card. Can anyone help or let me know what driver to use with Windows Vista and my GeForce4 MX 4000?

Nvidia Vista drivers only support DX9 class cards, aka FX, GF6, GF7 series and of course the DX10 class cards, 8800 series when that driver for it is released. ATI Vista drivers also only supports their DX9 class cards, no support for anything older.

Vista installed MS driver fine. No AGP accelleration support.
Download 77.72_win2kxp_international_whql.exe
Run setup, reboot when asked.

Small error about desktop profile in use by win, ignore.

Installed Vista Enterprise
Installed / Tried to install:
Nvidia software 97.54_vista, 9727_vista, 75.01_winvista.exe, 88.61_forceware, 97.46_forceware and 9754_vista.exe
no luck with the previous versions even after getting past the "no card recognized" message with manual and web pasted edits
ran across this:

3 weeks later after several "last known good" reboots I found the driver mentioned earlier: 77.72_win2kxp_international_whql.exe

I id not remove the windows drivers or even touch them before running the nvidia setup.

My computer P4 2.8, Is much faster at everything.
