Default Can Microsoft cancel my Vista key?

Hey guys. Yesterday I had to reinstall Windows and I was talking over the phone with MS for activation. There was a problem and to cut a long story short, they connected me back and forth but I re-activated my Windows after all. During the process they connected me to technical support and I had to give out my CDkey.

After Vista was activated, I thought I heard the support person say they would cancel my CDkey. At that time I said "ok sure" since windows was working fine and all. Now that I think about it, I'm worried. Did they actually cancel my key meaning it's used and I have to re-activate if I use it again or is it actually invalidated and I will have to repurchase Windows in the future? Any of you had something similar?

Thanks,
Tony.

With what you describe I can't imagine they would. if this is the kind of crap M$ is going to pull, Vista will go down as a freakin disaster, and will be their last OS.

To answer the thread title, Yes Microsoft CAN cancel CD-keys.

But, like scott said, based on your story they wouldn't.

Good news is I used an image of Vista before activation, and I was able to activate it fine using my cd key. So I guess the support person was probably talking about invalidating my previous installation of Windows, the one I wiped.
